Outreach and Extension Programs

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) is a non-profit, educational program offering hands-on workshops to adult women. We encourage a supportive environment conducive to learning, making friends, and having fun. No experience is necessary and BOW is for women of all ages and fitness levels.

• Buena Vista Prairie Chicken Viewing Opportunities
• Reservations will be taken for observing prairie chickens on the Buena Vista Marsh for the month of April beginning in November.

The Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education (WCEE) was established by the Wisconsin legislature in 1990 and placed within the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The WCEE is working to improve environmental education in Wisconsin through assisting in the development, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of teacher and student   K-12 Environmental Education programs.

• A collection of K-12 environmental education curriculum resources for use by educators in Wisconsin.
• Global Environmental Teachings (GET)
• GET is a professional development program for teachers based on international exchanges. 
• Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP)
• The Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) was created to promote energy education in Wisconsin.
• Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Program (LEAF)
• LEAF connects formal and non-formal educators in Wisconsin with quality forestry education materials.
• Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB)
• WEEB operates an environmental grants program and the board is also serves as a consensus-building group on environmental education issues.
• Wisconsin Environmental Science Teachers Network (WEST)
• A collaborative network of environmental science teachers established to share professional expertise.
• Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education (WAEE)
• WAEE is the statewide non-profit professional organization of environmental educators which supports environmental education through advocacy, networking, and recognition.

CLUE creates learning opportunities for communities to help them make sound land use decisions that result in a sustainable Wisconsin.

• UW-Extension Wisconsin Lakes Partnership
• University of Wisconsin - Extension Lakes is a team of education professionals dedicated to preserving our Wisconsin Legacy of lakes through education, communication, and bringing people together.​

The Center for Watershed Science and Education:  supports watershed stewardship; Assists citizens with lake, river and drinking water quality problems; promotes management strategies for water resource protection; provides water quality assessment and support; and prepares students for careers as water resource professionals. 

• Central Wisconsin Groundwater Center
• Helping citizens and governments manage the groundwater in Wisconsin wisely, through education, public information, applied research, and technical assistance.
• Water and Environmental Analysis Lab (WEAL)
• The WEAL offers analytical, research, and educational services to the public such as testing homeowner’s water for a wide range of toxins including metals and pesticides.
