The thesis generally is organized like a technical paper published in a scientific journal (e.g. Journal of Wildlife Management). If published results are anticipated, the thesis should be prepared according to the instructions to authors given in the technical journal of choice. Unpublished support material should be listed in the thesis appendix. If more than one published paper is anticipated, the thesis must may be divided accordingly.

PREPARATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT
Paper - Twenty pound paper, 8 1/2 X11 inches in size, must be used for the original. The paper must also be acid free.
Margins - The left margin must be at least one and one half inches wide to allow for binding. The right margin should be no less than one inch wide. The typing should be started six single spaced lines from the top and should end six lines from the bottom. A backing sheet showing margins will help center the copy correctly on the page.
Size of type - Times New Roman type font set at 12 or another font approved by your advisor is appropriate. Use double spacing throughout, except for footnotes and long quoted passages.
PAGINATION
Each page in a thesis should be assigned a number. The following plan of pages numbering should be observed.
For the preliminaries small Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, etc) are placed in the center of the page three single spaced lines above the bottom of the page the numbering should begin with "ii", the title page counts as page 1 but the number does not appear; the abstract page is counted or numbered iii.
For the remainder of the dissertation including the text, illustrations, appendices and bibliography, Arabic numbers are placed in the center, three lines below the top of the page. A number should be given to each page on which material appears. The numbering should begin with "1" and run consecutively to the end of the thesis. An exception in the placing of the page number should be made for pages carrying a major heading, e.g. the first page of a chapter, etc. On all such pages the number should be placed at the bottom in the center. If it may be placed on the left page facing the figure. Figure number must appear on both the figure and the page carrying the description of the figure. This page must carry the number which would normally precede the number of the figure itself. Do not use letter suffixes such as 10a, 10b etc.
