WCEE’s Approach

The WCEE believes students reach their full potential in education when the environment, including the local community, is used as the context for learning. Our goal is to help create schools where learning is experiential, interdisciplinary, relevant and available to all. Through our consulting services, WCEE staff work with Wisconsin schools and districts to help them further a curricular approach that has environmental education and community connections integrated throughout all subjects and grade levels.

In addition to this integrated approach, WCEE consulting services are also available to assist schools with reaching smaller goals related to increasing their connections to energy and/or forestry education. WCEE staff can provide specialized expertise in school building energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change, and sustainable transportation. WCEE staff can also assist schools in enhancing opportunities for outdoor learning and developing their school grounds or school forest. General consulting services to help schools become greener and healthier are also available in partnership with other environmental education organizations throughout the state.
