No Teacher Left Inside Institute

By Chris KuntzchadTeachesNTLI.png
No teacher Left Inside was a fantastic week in the woods with some phenomenal teachers! Fifty-three teachers and resource professionals from across the Wisconsin met at Fall Creek to plan the upcoming school year’s outdoor lessons. Some of the green schools had extensive planning sessions while many teachers were just trying to incorporate small pieces within their current curriculum.

This year there were three tracks: Teaching In and About the Forests; Taking Place Based Learning Into the Field; and Build Your Own Adventure.  The forestry track did hands-on activities including natural dyeing, tree measurement, medicinal uses of plants, tree identification, journaling, and GPS lessons. We spent the final day incorporating team building exercises designed to bring participants together and create unity.

As always, I was impressed with the quality and creativity of Wisconsin teachers in Wisconsin.

Save the date for next year when we will be at Mackenzie Environmental Center in Poynette from July 29-August 2, 2013.
