Programs Affiliated with Letters & Science
The College of Letters & Science maintains or participates in ongoing programs to connect the needs of society with the academic programs preparing the students who will manage them in the future. Partnerships between the college, the community, the nation, and the world ensure that your education is relevant to your career, and that the college provides a resource to the area, while addressing the needs of our society.
The Allen F. Blocher Planetarium and Observatory is maintained and operated by the staff of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Public and group programs are offered for up to 70 people.
The Center for the Small City administers an interdisciplinary minor in Small City Analysis and sponsors the biennial National Conference that brings academics, small city elected officials and staff together from across the United States to discuss the development, needs, and problems affecting small cities.
The Central Wisconsin Economic Research Bureau's mission is to bring timely economic analysis and information to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) service area consisting primarily of Portage, Marathon, and Wood counties, in order to help foster economic development in this region.
The Collaborative Degree Program is designed for adult, non-traditional students seeking to complete a University of Wisconsin Stevens Point bachelor's degree in Business Administration, General Studies, or Web and Digital Media Development. Late afternoon and evening upper-level UWSP courses are offered at the UW Colleges and Nicolet College to allow you to complete your degrees after work in your own community.
Letters & Science Undergraduate Research Symposium Since 2000, the
Museum of Natural History, located on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center, creates and maintains exhibits available to the public at no charge. The museum provides an opportunity for greater understanding and appreciation for the world through exhibitions, education, research and public service.
The
Northern
Aquaculture Demonstration Facility (NADF) is a state-of-the-art
aquaculture demonstration and research station located near Red Cliff,
Wisconsin. The facility boasts an 8,500 sq. ft. aquatic production
barn, with wet lab, office, mechanical, storage, and aquatic production
areas. The NADF is capable of raising warm, cool, and coldwater fish
species demanding various needs. The POLYED National Information Center for Polymer Education is a consortium of groups interested in nurturing science education at all levels in general and polymer education in particular. Membership is derived from the American Chemical Society Divisions of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE). |
