UNIVERSITY CHILD LEARNING AND CARE CENTER CURRICULUM SUMMARY
Bunny Group
Mary Talbot
The Bunny Group children are 2 to 3 years old. This group practices self-help and social skills. Children learn through play and begin to relate to teacher-directed activities.
All children need to be happy, relaxed, and discovering the world around them. Ample materials are provided that are age appropriate and varied. The daily schedule needs to reflect all individual needs and differences. The curriculum needs to reflect a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Opportunities need to include find and large more development. Puzzles, pegboards, art materials, construction sets, markers, play dough, sand, and blunt scissors need to be available. Children need to explore, learn, and socialize. Blocks, books, dramatic play, science, art, and self-help skills are incorporated into the curriculum. Rich language and adult role modeling are an important component of the curriculum. Daily routines of snack, lunch, bathroom, nap, and outdoor time (large motor), are considered a learning time where children socialize. They also develop self-help, health, and safety skills.
