THE RANDOM WALK POLYMER

2. Main Menu and the Time Delay

The main menu controls the flow of the program with the first five choices corresponding
to the five different solution environments and the last choice allowing one to exit from
the program.  The time delay setting is zero when the program is started.  The time delay
setting controls the lengths of a pair of nested loops in the parts of the program that
generate the random walks and is executed before every step of the random walk.  High
settings enable one to watch the random walk while low settings speed up the walks so
that one can concentrate on the configurational averages.  Because the delay consists of a
pair of loops, doubling the time delay setting will slow the configuration generation by
about a factor of four.
