
College Chemistry Senior Award Purpose: To recognize significant achievement in the chemical sciences at the undergraduate level by a student who will enter their senior year in the fall of the Award year. Nature: If selected in a regional competition, a $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each of the six ACS regions. Each local section of the ACS is eligible to nominate one candidate who fulfills the scholarship requirements. Establishment and Support: The award was established in 1987 by the ACS Board of Trustees of the Group Insurance Plans. The Central Wisconsin Section nominates one candidate from currently enrolled in one of the two baccalaureate granting institutions within the Section's borders. The nomination is to be sent to the Board of Trustees of the Group Insurance Plans who shall make the selection. Rules of Eligibility: The nominee must be a matriculated full-time student entering their senior year in the fall of the calendar year in which the in which award is given. The awardee shall be enrolled in a curriculum leading to an undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a chemically related science. Further, the nominee must within the territory assigned to the Central Wisconsin Section or be matriculated in a college or university within its borders. The nominee must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 and the nomination be accompanied by two supporting letters from faculty, and a brief statement by the nominee giving his/her reasons] for choosing a career in the chemical sciences.
