Tutor Fair
"It's been gratifying to develop relationships with talented students who desire to learn through gaining authentic classroom experiences. Over the years, I have been blessed to have students who extend their commitment beyond the dates set by the program or who return for subsequent semesters. This extended tutoring has paid huge dividends, as they have already become accustomed to the students and the procedures that make our classroom a place where learning is a nonstop pursuit."
- Laurie Hanson, Washington Service-Learning
Spring 2008 Tutor Fair
Location:
DUC Legacy Room
Wednesday, February 6, 2008
8:30 a.m. - 2:30
p.m.
This is the primary place for UW-SP students looking for tutoring opportunities to sign up. It is at the tutor fair where you can find the tutor opportunity that best fits your needs, whether it be gaining practicum experience or working with children, adults or students with special needs. Each semester before the tutoring fair begins, all teacher-submitted tutor requests are organized into booths on display at the tutor fair. Teachers, principals, administrators and other faculty are invited to the fair, but as it is in the middle of the school day, many are unable to attend.
If the fair date does not fit your schedule, students interested in tutoring should come to the SIEO booth at the Involvement Fair to sign up. If neither of the times work for you or if it is after the date of both fairs, interested students should stop by the Student Involvement & Employment Office or contact the tutor coordinator, Ellen Forde, at eford787@uwsp.edu.
