What is "Make Life Sweeter"?
This is a Student Involvement and Employment Office-sponsored event to raise
money to send student volunteers on service trips to work on issues such as
HIV/AIDS, poverty, and disaster relief. The event is a smorgasbord of
dessert samples prepared by guest chefs (faculty, staff, and
students). Attendees pay a $5 cover and sample away!
How can I help student volunteers?
We hope you will attend Make Life Sweeter, but we are also looking for guest
chefs!
What is involved with being a guest chef?
- Bake/prepare 150 sample-sized treats
- Attend Make Life Sweeter to serve your treat
- Each chef will have their own table at the event. While it's optional,
chefs are encouraged to get creative and decorate their table (there are prizes
involved!)
What is considered a "sample"?
A sample is one or two bites. Regular servings of bars or cakes could be
cut in half or items such as cupcakes or cookies could be made mini.
More than "just desserts"!
We will have contests for best decorated table, best Valentine's Day-themed
treat, best chocolate treat, most unique dessert, and vegan treat! This is
a great
teambuilding idea for departments and organizations.
Do I need to bring plates and napkins?
SIEO will provide forks, spoons, knives, bowls, plates, and napkins. We
will also provide chefs with plastic gloves to serve items like cookies;
otherwise, please bring your own serving utensils.
What if I need electricity to keep my dessert warm?
Please indicate any special needs on the Chef RSVP form. We will try to
accommodate your needs.
