September 2008
Hunger Prevention Meal and Seminar
Date: Friday, September 26
Time: 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Place: St. Bronislava's Church
Duties: We are looking for adults to help in the preparation and serving of a meal to low income residents of Portage County. Those attending will be served a meal, educated on eating healthy on a budget and then will receive the ingredients and recipe necessary to make that particular meal at home.

October 2008
Harvest Festival
Date: Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4
Time: Shifts between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days
Place:: Downtown Stevens Point
Duties: Volunteers are needed for decorating Main Street, helping collect tickets for rides, assisting with contests, and working with children at special free activities. From pumpkin painting to a pie eating contest, there are several fun things to do.

Festival of India
Date: Saturday, October 4
Time: Shifts throughout the day
Place: SPASH
Duties: Snack and other Table Assistants, Workshops Assistants, Food Preparation, Food Servers and packing, Technical Supports, Advertising, Transportation Crews, Decorations & Setup, Bazaar sales, Publicity and More.

Walk to Cure Diabetes
Date: Sunday, October 5
Time: 7:30 a.m. - Noon
Place: Pfiffner Park, Stevens Point
Duties: Volunteers needed to help assist walkers with registration, kids' activities, walk route, food and T-shirt distribution.

Empty Bowls
Date: Saturday, October 18
Time: Two shifts available: 10:30 - 12:30 or Noon - 2
Place: SPASH
Duties: Choose from greeting participants, ticket collection, helping participants select a bowl, serving soup, selling raffle tickets, kitchen help, cookies, floor assistants, and much more. Volunteers receive free lunch and a t-shirt.

SPARTA (Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association) Used Book Sale
Date: Wednesday, October 29 - Friday, October 31
Time: This opportunity is great for its flexibility. You can volunteer anywhere from 1 to 3 hours at a time depending on your schedule.
Place: Centerpoint Mall
Duties: Volunteers will assist in moving books or placing books on tables.
