Intercity Impact
INTERCITY IMPACT
Milwaukee, WI
Friday, November 6th - Sunday, November 8th, 2009
What will we be doing?
Participants will be volunteering with various organizations in the Milwaukee area to gain a better understanding of the effects of urban poverty. (Organizations may include, but are not limited to food pantries and group homes.) Before the trip, there will be three Impact Trainings to learn about the causes of hunger and poverty and what you, as a leader, can do to make a difference. After the trip, we will meet one final time for a local volunteer project. This will give you a chance to put your Impact in Action as we will discuss ways to make a change in Portage County.
When is it?
Impact Trainings will be: October 20th, 27th and November 3rd (Tuesdays) from 6-7:30pm.
The Milwaukee trip is: Friday, November 6th - Sunday, November 8th 2009.
The Impact in Action volunteer date will be announced at the first trip Impact Training.
Where will we stay?
Volunteers will be staying at a local church in the Milwaukee area.
What is the cost?
The cost of the program for UWSP students is $25.00. This cost includes all Impact Trainings, transportation, lodging and most meals. Participants are expected to attend all trainings before the service trip.
Participants are expected to pay for their own souvenirs, snacks, and one meal.
