Transition Workbook

Every group experiences times of transition. One inevitable transition is that of changing leadership within the organization. This packet consists of handouts which can aid the outgoing and incoming officers in leaving and entering their respective positions effectively to help ensure a successful future.

Information is divided into four sections:

• Information/handouts for the Outgoing Officers to complete individually. Once this is done, the information should be given to the incoming officers. (Pages 2-8)
• Handouts directed toward the group - both Outgoing and Incoming Leaders. These should be completed with all the people involved present and participating. (Pages 9-12)
• Handouts for the Incoming Officers to complete and process. (Pages 13-16)
• Resources and Information to know. (Pages 17-26)

Remember, an effective transition is an interactive communicative process involving all old and new officers. The sharing of past experiences (and lessons learned) is critical, as well as the sharing of goals and dreams for the future of the organization.
