Individuals can sign up online in the three-day time frame beginning at 10:00am on Monday mornings, and closing at 12:00pm on Thursdays the week before play starts. Individuals must enter the correct information and print out their confirmation receipt sent via e-mail.
During each block of Intramurals, there are six weeks of play. The first five weeks are regular league play, and the sixth week is the tournament. At the Division One level, only teams that make the tournament will play in week six. In Division Two, all teams will play the full six weeks, as there is no tournament.
At the Division One level, the results of the first five weeks of play will determine which teams make the tournament. The highest ranked teams based on the scoring system for their particular sport will make tournament play. However, the number of teams that make the tournament will depend largely upon facility availability and the amount of teams that are playing the sport. As a rule of thumb, Intramurals tries to allow 50% of the teams into the tournament.
Example:
40 Men’s Division One Basketball teams compete during first five weeks
20 are put into the tournament if enough space is available
Note: Division Two does not hold a tournament. The sixth week of play will be regular games
During an academic year, there are four blocks of play. Block one and two are held in the fall semester, and block three and four in the spring semester.
Blocks two and three are indoor play only
Usually, but not always. We ask captains at the beginning of the block to be as flexible as possible when it comes to tournament week. Intramurals will attempt to keep all sports on the same night, but due to facility conflicts, teams may be asked to adjust their schedules to a different day.
What does Coed mean?
Coed is short for coeducational. This means, both men and women can play on the same team. The coeducational sports Intramurals offers are:
Indoor Soccer, Outdoor Soccer, Volleyball, Floor Hockey, Street Hockey, Broomball, Trench, Ultimate Frisbee
Flag Football, Badminton and Doubles Tennis (Teams may consist of two players of the same sex, or one of each sex)

For sports consisting of more than three players, there must be at least two players of each sex on the playing area at any given time. For badminton and doubles tennis, teams may consist of a combination of any of the following: Man/Man – Woman/Woman –Man/Woman
Division One is classed as a competitive league. At this level, there are five weeks of league play and one week of tournament play. Only teams ranked high enough at the end of week five will compete in the tournament.
Division Two is a fun league. There will be six weeks of regular play and no tournament week.
The two sports that offer both Division One and Two play are: Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, Indoor Soccer, and Outdoor Soccer.
***In these sports, participants are only allowed to play in one of the two divisions. For example, an individual will not be allowed to play in both D1 and D2 basketball, even if they are on different nights. Please play in the league that best fits your ability.
For all Intramural sports, the basic equipment is provided. However, equipment can be checked out for use at any time from the Strength Center desk. The desk is located inside the HEC building and the staff can be contacted at 346-4165. To check equipment out, a valid UWSP student/faculty identification card is required. If equipment is not returned at the appropriate time, or lost, a charge will be applied to the student/faculty member who checked the equipment out.
A forfeit and a $15 charge (billed directly to the captain’s account) are applied to a team that breaks any of the following rules:
For any team that forfeits a game, the result will be classed as a loss. Teams that do forfeit are still eligible for tournament play. Please respect other teams and contact them if you are unable to play for any reason.
Any team that withdraws from play during the block will be subject to a cancellation fee. As a captain you are committing your team to six weeks of play, failure to do this will result in a cancellation fee charged to your captain’s account. The fee will be decided by the Intramurals staff. Each situation will be treated uniquely depending on the circumstances.
Each captain is responsible for signing their team up online at www.uwsp.edu/centers/intramurals and attending the mandatory captain’s meeting. Each captain must also be fully cognisant of the rules of play, and pass them onto his/her teammates. The captain must communicate thoroughly with his/her team the times and dates the team will play during each week of the block, and make sure that his/her team consists of no ineligible players. Failure to do this may result in a forfeit. All information for captains will be posted on the Intramural bulletin board located outside of office 020a HEC, and sent via e-mail the week before play begins. Captains must also make sure that each member of their team has completed and signed the team roster sheet.
Captain’s cooperation is greatly appreciated by the Intramural staff.
