Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a friend to work out with me if they don't have a membership?
Yes, the cost will be $4.00 each time.

Can I bring my conference guest in to work out?
Yes, the cost will be $4.00 each time.

Can MSTC (Mid state Tech. College) students join?
Yes, they can. MSTC students must sign up in person at the front desk and pay with check or cash. A UWSP ID or License to Sweat card is required, License to Sweat cards are issued at the Pointcard Office.

Can my spouse get a membership?
Yes. All spouses, domestic partners, and adult children in the same residence fall into our "guest" designation. Guests must sign up in person at the front desk and pay with check or cash. The individual associated with the university (the guest's sponsor) must have a Cardio Center membership of equal or greater contract length also. The guest and/or sponsor must provide picture IDs confirming same residence.

Are community folks permitted to have a membership?
UWSP graduates are able to join the Cardio Center. The Cardio Center is supported by student fees and therefore is not open to the general community. Graduates may be asked to provide an unofficial copy of their transcript to validate their graduate status.

Do you need a membership to attend group fitness classes?
Classes are free for all UWSP students. UWSP faculty and staff must purchase a Group Fitness membership or a ten-use pass. Community and alumni are not permitted.

What if the facility is not open in the morning when scheduled?
Occasionally our opening person oversleeps! If this happens, you are welcome to go to the other fitness center (Strength) and work out there with your membership.

How do I sign up for yoga, pilates, dance, reiki, or any other holistic health program?
These programs are sponsored by the Cardio Center; sign up and pay at the front desk. UWSP students and staff can pay with cash, check, pointcash, or student billing. All others must pay with cash or check. There is a no-refund policy so be sure to check the dates and times carefully.

Is any of the equipment ADA approved for people with disabilities?
Yes, there is strength and cardio equipment that are ADA approved. Anyone with special needs is invited to contact the fitness center supervisor for a complementary tour of the facility before joining.

What is available to eat or drink?
Both facilities have vending machines with nutritional beverages, nutritional bars are sold at the counter.

Are there lockers and showers?
Yes, both facilities provide lockers and showers. You need to bring your own lock. The Allen Center offers daily use lockers in the bathrooms plus lockers are available for rental on a per semester basis.

How can I get a job at the fitness centers?
We hire each semester and when hiring, check out the position descriptions and applications online.

When do I have to pay for my membership?
For students, your membership will be billed to your student account, you should see the charge on the next billing statement after you sign up for your membership. For faculty and staff, your membership will be billed through payroll deduction. If you are paid monthly, the fees will be taken out of your first 4 paychecks after you sign up, for bi-weekly payroll, fees will be taken out of the first 8 paychecks. Anyone who has to sign up at the Cardio Center Front Desk must pay when they sign up with cash or check only (no credit/debit cards or payroll deduction).
