2009-2010 Meal Plan Information

All students residing on-campus are required to participate in the dining program for the entire academic year. The contract is effective for the academic semester. Meals and Food Dollars do not roll over and must be used within the contract period. If you do not select a meal plan, you will automatically be assigned to the 225+50 plan. (Residents of South Hall are exempt from this requirement.) Off-campus students can add a meal plan by contacting the PointCard Office in the Dreyfus University Center. Off-Campus students, residents of South Hall, and Faculty and Staff that are interested in acquiring a meal plan will find their options listed below.

All 2009/2010 meal plans cost $1,138 per term. This covers the cost of meals, as well as utilities, maintenance, administrative costs, and debt retirement. Your meals can be used in three different ways:

  • Meals are the total number of meals available for your use during the semester.
  • Guest Privileges: As a resident diner, you may use up to 2 meals, per meal period, to treat accompanying guests at DeBot Dining Center, DeBot C-store & Grill, and the DUC Food Court. Guests’ meals will be deducted from your semester total. Food Dollars may also be used for guests.
  • The Pointer Plate Special is a preset daily special meal offered at the DeBot C-Store Grill and the DUC Food Court. The Pointer Plate allows you the chance to try meals at locations across campus for just a swipe of your card. You may exchange one meal for the Pointer Plate Special during each of the meal periods. Meal period times vary at each Center. Check below for specific time periods.

Meal Period Restrictions: Each day is broken into four meal periods and you are limited to one meal per meal period. Meal periods are Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Late Night. Times vary depending on location. You may use up to 2 guest meals, per period, as explained below.

PointCASH is accepted at all dining locations on campus along with several other areas on campus and a number of restaurants off campus. Visit pointcard.uwsp.edu for complete list.

Food dollars accompany meal plans and provide the freedom to purchase a variety of items at dining locations. Food Dollars are worth one dollar each. You may use your Food Dollars to make purchases at the DeBot Dining Center, the DeBot C-store & Grill, the DUC Food Court, the Home Grown Café, the Food for Thought Café, and also the DUC Brewhaus for non-alcoholic food items. Once your food dollars are used, you are unable to buy more. Food dollars expire at the end of the semester, however students can add PointCASH, which is accepted at all food locations, to their account at any time. South Hall / Off Campus Meal Plans

Students who reside in South Hall, or live off-campus, may choose to purchase this plan. The cost is $292 and provides participants with 50 all-you-care-to-eat meals, served in the DeBot Dining Center. You may also purchase the Pointer Plate Special at the DeBot C-Store & Grill or at the DUC Food Court. In addition, these students are eligible to purchase any of the other dining plans listed above for $1,138.

Faculty Meal Plan

UDS is introducing a new meal plan that allows faculty and staff to dine in the revitalized residential dining hall. You will be able to enjoy DeBot's expanded deli and salad bars, the Italian Kitchen, the Northwood's Grill, the main serving line, an all new fruit and yogurt bar, Pura Vida coffee and vitamin enhanced flavored waters. The Monday through Friday, lunch-only plan is $55.00, plus tax for 10 meals. The meals are available for use throughout the semester of purchase and do not roll into the next semester. Meals are not permitted to be taken out of the hall. Please contact the PointCard Office to add your plan.

Meal Plan Changes

You may change your meal plan without charge until 3 pm the Friday prior to the beginning of the semester. We will not accept changes the first week of the semester. We will accept changes the 2nd and 3rd week of the semester. You may see an additional charge or refund on your tuition bill depending on how many Food Dollars and Meals you have used prior to the change. Look for notices at DeBot, in the residence halls and on Student Message of the Day for specific details on how and when you can change your meal plan.
