Heartland Farm Sanctuary is a service trip offered February 16-17th. There will also be two mandatory pre-trip meetings.

What will we be doing?

Participants will be spending Saturday volunteering with Heartland Farm Sanctuary and rescued farm animals who were considered homeless. We will be volunteering approximately 8-10 hours on Saturday with free time at night to explore the city or spend time with the other volunteers.

How much does it cost?

The cost of this trip is $35. The trip cost covers your transportation to and from Madison, housing, breakfast and lunch, transportation within Madison, and training and activities by SIEO. The trip cost does not cover dinner, meals before and after travel (Breakfast on the 16th and Lunch on the 17th), souvenirs, medical insurance, and entertainment while in Madison.

How do I sign up?

To sign up for the Heartland Farm Sanctuary Trip, please fill out the application packet and turn it in along with a check of $35 (made out to UWSP) to the Information and Tickets Office no later than September 26, 2012. Selection criteria are outlined in the application packet.

A committee of students and staff will review the applications. Participants will be notified by October 12th on whether or not they have been selected.

If you are not selected to participate, your $35 deposit will be returned in full.

What is the purpose of the pre-trip meetings?

The purposes of the meetings are three-fold:

  • Get to know the other participants before you spend the weekend together.
  • Explore the root causes of social issues.
  • Prepare for the service trip.
