NCEE and the NASDAQ Educational Foundation

2002 NASDAQ National Teaching Awards

Marc Stanke, a teacher at Brookfield Central High School, was selected as a semifinalist  of the NCEE and the NASDAQ National Economic Teaching Award.   Mr. Stanke's winning lesson plan was entitled  "Student Economic Evaluation of Public Policy (SEEPP) Project.

Each year NCEE, in a creative partnership with the Nasdaq Educational Foundation, recognizes twenty-five teachers nationwide.  The awards are designed to advance economic literacy in our nation's high schools by recognizing teachers who are helping students to think, make sound, informed decisions and function well in the economy. Awards are presented to high school teachers  for their most creative, original and effectual efforts to apply economic content and reasoning skills to:

  • financial markets
  • the capital formation process
  • the investment process (either economic or financial)
  • personal finance
  • entrepreneurship
  • the market economy

Five regional winners  receive $10,000 and an all-expense paid trip to New York City in April 2003 to attend a dinner gala in their honor.  A national panel of judges  select a Grand National Winner from among these five regional winners to receive an additional award of $15,000.  In addition, 20 semifinalists from the five regions are awarded a $1,000 cash prize.
