The
Division of Business and Economics serves its majors,
other UWSP students, and the Central Wisconsin business
community as described below:
1. It serves
its majors by imparting cognitive knowledge of
contemporary accounting, business, and economics
principles and practices; by developing analytic skills;
by making learning experiences beyond the classroom
available; and by nurturing the attitudes, competence,
and confidence to make a successful transition from
school to a professional business environment.
2. It
serves other UWSP students by offering quality
instruction in accounting, business and economics
concepts, principles and practices to those who wish to
combine business studies with their principal fields of
study.
3. It
serves the Central Wisconsin business community by
joining with others in promoting the region's economic
health and by engaging in selected outreach efforts.
Outreach efforts on the part of the Division include: the
Collaborative Degree Program offered in conjunction with
UW-Marathon in Wausau and UW-Wood Co. in Marshfield; the
Central Wisconsin Economic Research Bureau; and the
Center for Economic Education.
In
order to effectively provide such services, Division
faculty become and remain conversant with relevant
literature, maintain active ties with the business and
professional communities, and engage in scholarly and
professional activities appropriate to their disciplines.
