Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is based on a goal of excellence, for myself and for my students. It is founded on three core values. These are respect, commitment, and passion. I respect the uniqueness of each student and I attempt to work with their limitations and build on their strengths. I am committed to continuous learning in the subject matters that I teach and in pedagogy, the practice of teaching. My commitment to learning is evidenced by my research, which provides current material and examples in the classroom. I believe teaching gives me the opportunity for continuous improvement. I am passionate about what I research and what I teach. That passion translates into an attempt to captivate student interest through a series of learning activities, which are designed to encourage critical thinking. Most students will find that although my classes require a substantial amount to work, the result is a significant amount of learning.
