Office: CPS 410 Professional Titles:
Director of SBE Events
Professor of Business
I have a Ph.D. from Stanford University and a B.A. (Honours) degree in economics from the University of Winnipeg (Canada). While completing my doctorate at the Stanford Business School with a specialty in Political Economics, I researched trade politics and resided in Washington, D.C. Before joining the UWSP faculty in 2001, I was a faculty member at the University of Iowa.
With my interdisciplinary training, I have taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in business, economics and politics. At UWSP, I currently teach the Management Capstone class; I have also taught Marketing Research, Business Ethics and Management Principles. I was honored to receive the “Excellence in Teaching” award from the UWSP School of Business & Economics in 2006.As SBE Events
I coordinate a schedule of approximately 250 extra-curricular events per year, both on- and off-campus, for School of Business & Economics students. Our SBE Events provide great advice and ideas for students as they prepare for the transition from academics to the professional world. We love to have alumni return to campus and share their insights with current students, so send me an email if you want to get in touch!
I planned and led, with a colleague, a semester-long study-abroad program in London in Fall 2011. Many of the students completed internships at local businesses along with their coursework. The students and I also visited Cambridge University and Stratford-on-Avon during this exciting time abroad.
I have presented and published numerous research papers at national conferences, on topics ranging from teaching techniques to business and marketing case studies. My research interests include student engagement, strategy and the effect of politics on business.
