Student Deferment Form
Once you
leave UWSP, you may be eligible for periods of deferment, during which time
interest does not accrue and repayment of principal is not required. Click here for details.
Cancellations for Teachers
Form
If you are a full-time elementary/secondary/headstart teacher
employed at a school designated by the Federal Government to have a high
concentration of students from low-income families, you may be eligible for a
partial cancellation of your loan for each year of teaching service. Click here to see if your school is eligible.
Cancellations for
Service/Employment Form
You may qualify for cancellation benefits if you
are employed in any of the following disciplines: military, peace corps/visa,
law enforcement/correctional officer, qualified professional provider of early
intervention, employee of child or family service agency, nurse, or medical
technician.
Unemployment
Hardship Form
If you are experiencing difficulty paying your loan due to
unemployment or underemployment, you may be eligible for an unemployment
hardship. Unemployment hardships can last up to 3 years followed by a 6 month
grace period, during which time your interest and principal will be postponed
and interest will not accrue.
Economic Hardship
Form
If you are experiencing difficulty paying your loan due to a special
circumstance other than unemployment or underemployment, you may be eligible for
an economic hardship. Economic hardships can last up to 3 years followed by a 6
month grace period, during which time your interest and principal will be
postponed and interest will not accrue.
Forbearance
Form
During an approved forbearance period, payments of principal and
interest, or principal only, may be postponed or reduced for up to 3 years.
Interest continues to accrue while your loan is in forbearance.
