Wozniak and
Reckelberg Excel at Pointer Open

UW-Stevens Point�s Tyler Wozniak defeated
teammate Craig Bollig in the third place match of the gold division
184-pound bracket to lead the Pointer wrestling team at Saturday�s
Pointer Open.
No team scores were kept in the meet, which
featured wrestlers from 18 different schools, ranging from Division I
through junior colleges.
Wozniak won the match 6-4 in a contest between
two wrestlers who have been battling for a spot in the teams� regular
rotation. Josh Ison added a fifth place finish at 165 pounds with an 8-6
win over Bryan Deutsch of Northern Illinois in the consolation finals.
Deutsch beat Ison 4-2 in the opening round, but Ison battled back with
six wins to claim the fifth place finish.
Dennis Reckelberg was runner-up in the
174-pound silver division winning three straight matches before losing
to Ben Becker of Minnesota State-Mankato 8-3 in the title match. Chris
Karl was third in the 165-pound silver division with a 3-1 overtime win
over Andrew Eastlick of UW-Whitewater.
Fred Lane added a sixth place effort in the
157-pound silver division for the Pointers.
Outstanding wrestlers for
the meet were Albert Morgan from UW-Parkside (174 pounds) in the gold
division and Adam Weber (149 pounds) from Wartburg in the silver
division. |
