Snowstorm Doesn't Slow Down Pointers
Even a snowstorm couldn�t slow down UW-Stevens
Point Wednesday night as it won the first seven matches of the meet en
route to a 33-8 victory at UW-Platteville in a WIAC wrestling dual meet.
After an hour delay due to bad weather causing
the bus to arrive late, the Pointers wasted no time getting started.
Sophomore Eric Bath recorded his fourth pin of the year and the only pin
on the evening, taking care of his 174 pound match in 2:08. Junior Tyler
Wozniak followed Bath with an impressive victory, recording a 17-0
technical fall win at 184 pounds.
Ed Wynimko posted a major decision victory for
the Pointers, winning his 165 pound match 13-3. Chris Brown (157), Mitch
Szwet (197), Mike Hayes (HWT), and Joel Burdick (141) all recorded wins
for UW-Stevens Point. Freshman Ryan Dobbs received a forfeit at 125
pounds.
With the victory, UW-Stevens
Point improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC. Dane Droessler and
Ryan Higgins recorded the Pioneers� only two victories as UW-Platteville
fell to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
