Hayes Leads Pointers at Wisconsin Open
Mike Hayes placed second in the heavyweight
decision to lead the UW-Stevens Point wrestlers at Saturday�s Wisconsin
Open in Kenosha.
Hayes, ranked fourth nationally, suffered a 4-3
loss to defending national champion and top-ranked Ryan Allen of UW-La
Crosse in the title match. Allen handed Hayes three of his nine defeats
last season.
Joel Burdick, the fifth-ranked 141-pounder in
Division III, finished third overall after suffering a semifinal loss to
third-ranked David Silva of Elmhurst. Tyler Wozniak posted the Pointers�
other top performance with a fifth place finish at 174 pounds, losing to
fourth-ranked Jason Lulloff of UW-La Crosse in the semifinals.
No team scores were kept at the meet. |
