Pointers Dominate Titans in Conference
Opener
UW-Stevens Point won all
nine of its matches in posting a 38-6 victory over UW-Oshkosh in a
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wrestling opener on
Wednesday in Oshkosh.
The Titans gained their only
points via a Pointers' forfeit at 141 pounds as UW-Stevens Point had three
pins in cruising to the victory.
Jered Kern at 125 pounds,
Greg Lapinski at 133 pounds and Mike Hayes at heavyweight all registered
pins for the Pointers, while Lucas Scharmer at 157 pounds and Tyler
Wozniak at 184 pounds posted major decision victories. UW-Stevens Point
also got victories from Jake Wozniak at 157 pounds, Ed Wynimko at 165
pounds, Eric Bath at 174 pounds and Mitch Szwet at 197 pounds.
The Pointers return to the
mat on Thursday when they host Lakeland in their home dual meet opener at
7 p.m. in Berg Gym.
