Three Wrestlers Win Titles at Eau Claire

UW-Stevens Point had three individual champions
and three runner-up performances in placing third at Saturday�s UW-Eau
Claire Wrestling Invitational.
The Pointers had 109 points as second-ranked
Augsburg won the meet with 138.5 and North Central (Ill.) was second with
122 in the 10-team event.
Two championship matches featured competitions
between UW-Stevens Point wrestlers as Al Stacilauskas beat Eric Bath 3-2
for the title at 174 pounds and Craig Bollig defeated Tyler Wozniak 6-0
for the 184-pound crown. Bath posted three straight pins to reach the
title match before his defeat.
Mike Hayes, the nation�s fourth-ranked
heavyweight, posted a 5-1 win over Jake Stebnitz of UW-Oshkosh to run his
winning streak to 13 straight matches and improve to 14-1 for the season.
Joel Burdick also reached the title match at 141
pounds, but injury defaulted in the finals.
Chris Brown battled back from an opening round
loss at 157 pounds and won of his four victories by major decision before
losing in the third place match. Other fourth place finishers were Jake
Calhoun at 125 pounds and Kyle Mueller at 149 pounds. |
