Pointers Bury Concordia at Westby

Match Summary

WESTBY - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point wrestlers dropped just one match on the way to a 32-6 thrashing of Concordia University on Friday.

The match marked a resounding rebound for the Pointers, who had won three straight duals before taking a 37-4 loss to Wartburg, the nation's No. 2-ranked Division III team on Jan. 10.

Yan White, who had won four straight matches before falling vs. Wartburg, got back on the winning track with a 9-5 win over Paul Manning at 197 pounds.

David Davila got things rolling for the Pointers with a 12-3 major decision over Sean Feeney at 125 pounds. Brady Holtz won a 15-0 technical fall over John DalPino at 133; Joel Burdick edged Kevin Koch 5-4 at 141; Dwayne Brigham beat Nate Kurszewski 7-2 at 157; Ed Wynimko blanked Stevie McCullough 10-0 in a major decision at 165; Cody Koenig pinned Fred Wilson in 3 minutes, 49 seconds at 174; Tyler Wozniak doubled up Tim Haffner 6-3 at 184; and Mike Hayes claimed a 21-7 major decision over Clayton Neske at 275.
