Pointer Wrestlers Slip Past Lawrence

Four victories for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point wrestling team propeled the Pointers to a 25-21 win over Lawrence University Tuesday.

The wins came courtesy of pins by Brady Holtz at 133 pounds, Yan White at 197 and Mitch Gehring in the heavyweight division. In addition, Nate Preslaski won a 19-5 decision against the Vikings' Brian Branchford in the 157 weight class.

The Pointers improved to 6-4 in dual meet action this season.

One disappointment for UW-SP came at 174 pounds, where Wes Kapping - ranked seventh in the nation - lost a 9-2 decision to Lawrence's Ross Mueller.

The Pointers return to WIAC action Friday when they travel to Whitewater.
