Point Finishes
10th at 24-team Florida Duals
Four wrestlers went undefeated
in five matches to carry the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to a
3-2 record and a 10th place finish in the 24-team Florida Duals
in Orlando on Friday and Saturday. Chet
Zdanczewicz at 141 pounds, Nathan Preslaski at 157 pounds, Ben Kureck at
184 pounds and Yan White at 197 pounds all went 5-0 for the Pointers, who
are now 4-3 overall and ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III
rankings. UW-Stevens
Point opened with a 22-17 loss to 14th ranked John Carroll
(Ohio) as Preslaski and Kureck each recorded major decisions. Wes Kapping
also picked up a victory at 174 pounds and finished 4-1 for the two days. The
Pointers rallied with a 23-15 win over Simpson (Iowa) as 133-pounder Brady
Holtz recorded the team's only pin of the tournament. Heavyweight Mark
Burger also won, but was injured after a victory in the Pointers� next
match, causing the team to forfeit the heavyweight spot in their final two
matches. UW-Stevens Point also was forced to forfeit at 125 pounds in all
five matches. UW-Stevens
Point beat UW-Whitewater 22-13 behind a major decision from Kureck and
then topped 24th ranked Buena Vista (Iowa) 26-18 as Kapping and
White each had major decisions. The
Pointers dropped the ninth-place match to 18th ranked Ohio
Northern 20-19 as the Polar Bears earned 12 of their 20 points due to
forfeits. Kureck had his third major decision of the tournament in the

Point will host UW-Oshkosh in its next match on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at Berg
