Five Wrestlers Post Top Five Finishes at Augsburg Open

    Five University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point placed in the top five of their respective weight classes to lead the Pointers at the Augsburg College Open Saturday in Minneapolis. No team scores were kept and official results were not made available until Sunday.

     Brady Holtz was third at 133 pounds with a pin of Zack Schroeder of Concordia-Moorhead in 5:42 in the third place match. Mark Burger lost the third place match at heavyweight to finish fourth, falling to Kris Eglin of Upper Iowa 7-5.

     Wes Kapping and Yan White both finished fifth at their respective classes. Kapping pinned Tom Garcia of Northwestern (Iowa) in 3:47 in the fifth place match at 174 pounds, while White beat Joe Bryce of North Dakota 4-1 at 197 pounds.

     Jason Kleinschmidt dropped his opening match at 149 pounds, but rallied through the consolation bracket to take seventh place, pinning Jared Pangier of St. John's (Minn.) in 1:30 in his final match.

     Mitch Gehring also finished second in the heavyweight silver division, falling to unattached wrestler Nick Obert 11-5 in the title match.
