Statz Claims NCHA
Player of the Week Honors
UW-Stevens Point junior Amy Statz claimed the
Northern Collegiate Hockey Association player of the week award after
leading her team to a pair of victories last week.
Statz, a junior from Wisconsin Rapids, had two strong performances in a
weekend sweep of Lake Forest. She had 18 saves in Sunday�s 4-0 win, posting
her school record 13th career shutout.
The effort followed a 17-save
performance in a 3-1 win on Saturday. Lake Forest�s only goal during the
series came on a five-on-three power play in the third period on Saturday.
It is Statz�s third career athlete of the week award and the first given to
an NCHA goaltender this season.
