Women�s Hockey
Team Announces Recruiting Class
The UW-Stevens Point women�s hockey team has
announced eight recruits for the 2005-06 season. The Pointers are coming off
a season in which they finished 22-3-1 and won the Northern Collegiate
Hockey Association regular season and playoff titles.
Jenna Daggit of St. Paul Park, Minn., Madison Darud of Apple
Valley, Minn., Jackie Drews of Waupun, Rachael Graves of
Bemidji, Minn., Nicole Greeneway of Sheboygan, Nicole Grossmann
of Lindstrom, Minn., Trish Piskula of Antigo and Michelle
Sosnowski of Plainfield, Ill. have all informed coach Brian Idalski of
their intentions to play hockey for the Pointers.
Daggit, a forward, played high school
hockey for Park of Cottage Grove and was an All-Conference selection four
times. She also played soccer and golf, and was a two-year academic letter
winner.
Darud, a forward, is Eastview High School�s
all-time leading scorer and was a five-time All-Conference selection. She
was also an honorable mention All-Conference selection in cross country and
participated in track.
Drews, a forward, was the leading scorer
for the Madison Capitols U19 team last year. An honor roll student, Drews was also selected to the
Central District Chicago Showcase team in 2003 and the Team Wisconsin
Chicago Showcase team the past two seasons.
Graves, a defenseman, was a two-time
All-Conference selection and a member of three conference championship teams
while playing for Bemidji High School. She also played softball and was an
academic letterwinner.
Greeneway is a defenseman who played three
years of high school hockey on the Sheboygan North/South boys team and also
played for the Madison Capitols, where she won a state championship in 2004.
In addition to hockey, Greeneway played soccer, was a member of the National
Honor Society and was an honor roll student.
Grossmann, a forward, played for Chisago
Lakes High School and was a three-time All-Conference selection. She also
played soccer and made the academic All-Conference team.
Piskula, a forward, played on Antigo High
School�s boys team and for the Wisconsin Elite. She was a member of a state
qualifying team and of a Chicago Showcase Championship team in 2005. Piskula
also played softball, tennis, ran track and was an honor roll student.
Sosnowski, a forward, played high school
hockey for Plainfield Central and club hockey for the Chicago Young
Americans. She was a member of three state championship teams and was an
honor roll student. |
