LaClair Nabs NCHA
Player of the Week Award
UW-Stevens Point sophomore
Julie LaClair is building a strong track record when it comes to Northern
Collegiate Hockey Association player of the week awards.
LaClair, a White Bear Lake, Minn., has made just four career starts in the
past two seasons, but earned her second conference weekly award after
posting consecutive shutouts last weekend as the Pointers clinched their
second straight league title.
LaClair had 12 saves in a 5-0 win over Finlandia on
Friday and made 11 saves in a 1-0 triumph over the Lions on Saturday,
including six stops in the third period.
It marks the fifth different
UW-Stevens Point player to earn the honor this season and the second
straight week a Pointers' goalie won the award after Amy Statz was honored
last week.
LaClair also received the award
after shutting out St. Catherine in her only start of last season. She has
not allowed a goal in 264 career minutes played, including 180 minutes this
season.
