Early to Defeat Foresters

UW-River Falls scored three goals in
the first 5:05 on Saturday afternoon to defeat Lake Forest 4-2 in the NCHA
Tournament third-place game at Willett Arena in Stevens Point.
Sophomore Jenna Scanlon opened
the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 1:15 mark. Kelly Jensen scored
the first of two power play goals in a span of 1:27 for the Falcons on
assists from Jennifer Wallace and Ashley Anderson. Lou Paulson scored her
11th goal of the year and the game winner to make it 3-0 on an assist by
Lindsay O'Keefe.
Lake Forest got a power play
goal of it's own when Courtney DeHoey scored her 16th goal of the year with
3:03 remaining in the first period. The Foresters quickly cut the deficit to
one as Katie Snowden scored just 0:52 seconds into the second period.
Leigh Landgraf scored the only
goal of the third period on an assist from Lindsay O'Keefe with 5:22
remaining to seal the victory for the Falcons.
Sally Bevis made 28 saves for
Lake Forest who ended their season 11-12-4. Mandi Mohwinkel won her first
game of the season while only playing the first period. Katie Kantrud, Amber
Lindner and Mahwinkel each played 20 minutes and combined for 31 saves as
UW-River Falls finished their season 14-11-2.
