Women�s Hockey Team Announces 2004-05 Recruiting Class

     Coming off an NCAA Division III national runner-up finish, the UW-Stevens Point women�s hockey team has announced six members of its recruiting class for the 2004-05 season.

      Korryn Brooks of Plover, Jesse Suter of Waunakee, Katy Lankey of Baraboo, Jamie Lewandowski of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Janelle Korbas of Wadsworth, Ill. and Lauren Kellin of Cohasset, Minn. have all informed coach Brian Idalski of their intentions to attend UW-Stevens Point this fall and play hockey for the Pointers.

     Brooks is a defenseman who attended Stevens Point Area Senior High and played club hockey for the Madison Capitols, where she won a regional and state championship. Brooks was also an All-State performer in softball and a high honor roll student.

     Suter and Lankey also played for the Madison Capitols and are both forwards. Suter had 14 goals and 20 assists in 50 games. She was an honor roll student that ran for the track and cross country teams. Lankey totaled 16 goals and 21 assists in 58 games. Also an honor roll student, she ran track and played volleyball.  

     Lewandowski, a defenseman, and Korbas, a goalie, both won a state championship in club hockey for the Chicago Mission and were both honor roll students. Lewandowski totaled five goals and 10 assists in 44 games, while Korbas had six shutouts in 29 games with the Mission. She also posted three shutouts in 29 games with her high school boys� hockey team.

     Kellin is a defenseman who played for Grand Rapids High School and was an All-State honorable mention selection as a senior with 12 goals and eight assists in 25 games. Kellin was also named to the All-Area team her sophomore through senior seasons. In addition to hockey, Kellin was an All-Conference performer in soccer and track, and was an honor roll student.

     UW-Stevens Point finished last season with a 19-7-4 record.  The Pointers won the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association playoff title before falling to Middlebury (Vt.) 2-1 in the NCAA Division III national championship game.
