Schultz Selected
to All-Region Squad for Second Straight Year
UW-Stevens Point senior guard Cassandra Schultz
has been selected to the first-team all-Central Region women�s basketball
squad by D3hoops.com for the second straight season.
Schultz, a Hartford native, was one of two repeat performers on the
five-member team. The award comes one week after her second straight
first-team all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference award.
Kelly Manning of Washington (Mo.) was the other
two-time selection and also received regional Player of the Year honors.
Other first-team performers were Kelsey Duoss of UW-Stout, Karalyn Dehn of
Ripon and Lindsay Ippel of Millikin. Kris Jacobson of Carroll was the
regional Coach of the Year.
Schultz, a Hartford native, became the fourth
player in league history and first in school history to record more than
1,200 points and 400 assists. Her 1,241 career points ranks eighth in
school history and her 423 assists ranks third all-time.
This season, Schultz ranked fifth in the WIAC in
scoring at 14.3 points per game. She was second in the league in assists
at 4.63 per game and fourth in three-point shooting at 40.6 percent.
UW-Stevens Point posted its sixth consecutive
20-win season with a 20-8 overall record and 11-5 conference mark. The
Pointers advanced to the championship game of the WIAC tournament for the
second time in three years. |
