Schultz Earns
Second Straight All-WIAC Women�s Basketball Honor
For the second straight year, UW-Stevens Point
senior guard Cassandra Schultz has been named to the all-Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women�s basketball first-team.
Schultz is the 10th player in school history to
earn multiple first-team honors. She was joined by junior center Nathalie
Lechault, who was named to the league�s all-defensive team and earned
honorable mention accolades.
UW-Stevens Point posted its sixth consecutive
20-win season with a 20-8 overall record and 11-5 conference mark. The
Pointers advanced to the championship game of the WIAC tournament for the
second time in three years.
Schultz, a Hartford native, became the fourth player in league history and
first in school history to record more than 1,200 points and 400 assists.
Her 1,241 career points ranks eighth in school history and her 423 assists
ranks third all-time.
This season, Schultz ranked fifth in the WIAC in
scoring at 14.3 points per game. She was second in the league in assists
at 4.63 per game and fourth in three-point shooting at 40.6 percent.
Lechault, a Chavannes de Bogis, Switzerland
native, led the conference while setting single-season school records in
field goal percentage and blocked shots. She shot 64.6 percent from the
field, which was the second-highest percentage in conference history, and
her 95 blocks was the third-highest mark in league history. Lechault
averaged 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds while playing in all 28 games.
UW-Stout�s Kelsey Duoss was named the league�s
Player of the Year, while Mark Thomas of UW-Stout and Lois Heeren of UW-La
Crosse shared Coach of the Year honors. |
