Volleyball Set
for High Stakes Showdown with UW-La Crosse
Perhaps UW-Stevens Points biggest home
volleyball match in eight years is set for Wednesday night at Berg Gym
as the Pointers host UW-La Crosse in their final Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match of the season.
At stake is seeding in the conference
tournament and a first round home match in the event which begins on
Tues., Oct. 31. With a victory, the Pointers would be the fourth seed
and earn their first home postseason match since 1998. A loss sends the
Pointers to the seventh seed and a road match at either fifth-ranked
UW-Eau Claire or eighth-ranked UW-Oshkosh. UW-La Crosse will be the
fourth seed with a win and the sixth seed with a loss.
UW-Stevens Point is currently 21-11 overall
and 3-4 in the WIAC, while UW-La Crosse is 18-7 overall and 4-3 in the
WIAC. The Eagles beat the Pointers in three games in a non-conference
match on Sept. 15.
