Milestone Dig for Volleyball Team
UW-Stevens Point senior Lori Marten joined an
exclusive club of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
volleyball players last week, becoming just the fifth player in league
history to reach 2,000 career digs.
Marten, a Pittsville native who has been the team�s starting libero for
the past four years, reached the mark in the Pointers� four-game win
over Wartburg (Iowa) on Friday. Marten added the best single-match
performance of her career later that night with 42 digs in a five-game
loss to Bethel (Minn.).
She now has 2,055 digs for her four-year
career and has played in 470 of a possible 475 career games. Marten is
the only senior on this year�s team, which has a 21-11 record and is one
victory away from its highest win total since 1995. |
