Pointers Come Up Short at
Fifth-Ranked Blugolds UW-Stevens
Point had just eight hitting errors the entire match, but fifth-ranked
UW-Eau Claire used an outstanding defensive performance to sweep the
Pointers in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball
match on Saturday in Eau Claire.
The Blugolds had digs on 58 of the Pointers�
106 hitting attempts and picked up a 30-22, 30-21, 30-23 victory. Gina
Guell led the Pointers with six kills, while Jill Wittmann had 13
assists. Callie Kunde totaled 12 assists and nine digs for UW-Stevens
Point, which is now 19-8 overall and 3-2 in the WIAC.
UW-Eau Claire�s Jessica Groh had 19 kills,
while Shanna Berger led the defensive effort with 17 digs as the
Blugolds improved to 19-2 overall and 4-1 in the league. |
