Pointers Avenge One Heartbreaker, Suffer Another

The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team avenged one heartbreaking loss from earlier in the season, but suffered another later in the day as the Pointers split a pair of matches at the Bethel Triangular on Friday in St. Paul, Minn.

UW-Stevens Point opened the day by beating Wartburg (Iowa) 30-23, 20-30, 30-21, 30-23, avenging a five-game loss to the Knights on Sept. 16 that saw Wartburg win the fifth game 15-13. However, the Pointers had the same fate in their second match, dropping a 29-31, 30-22, 24-30, 30-26, 15-13 decision to Bethel.

UW-Stevens Point is now 21-11 overall and hosts UW-La Crosse in its final conference match of the season on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
