Pointer Teams
Each Second of 13 at Whitewater
UW-Stevens Point had one individual champion
and a relay victory as the men�s and women�s track and field teams each placed
second of 13 teams at Saturday�s UW-Whitewater Invitational.
Beth Richter won the women�s long jump with an
NCAA Division III provisional leap of 17 feet, 9.75 inches for the
Pointers� lone individual win. The men�s 1600-meter relay also had a
provisional mark by winning in a time of 3:22.76.
The women had 123 points to place behind
UW-Eau Claire, which had 155.5 points. The men finished with 132 points
to trail UW-Whitewater by 20 points in the team standings.
Peter Prusinski was among six runner-up
finishers for the men, adding a provisional throw in the shot put at 52
feet, 2.5 inches. Other second place performances were turned in by Nick
Ver Duin in the 400-meter dash in 50.76 seconds, Travis Nechuta in the
mile in 4:22.04, Mike Ormond in the 5000-meter run in 15:20.28, Kyle
Steiner in the high jump at six feet, 4.5 inches and the distance medley
relay team in 10:51.78.
The women had five runner-up finishers,
including the 1600-meter relay team in 4:01.31 and the 800-meter relay
team in 1:50.33. Richter was also second in the triple jump at 34 feet,
8.5 inches, while Dani Kinderman added a second place finish in the
200-meter dash in 26.92 seconds and Andrea Irvine was second in the
400-meter dash in 1:00.43. |
