Steiner Leads
Track Teams at WIAC Indoor Meet
Kyle Steiner was named the field performer of
the meet and captured both the men�s heptathlon and high jump titles for
the second straight year to lead the UW-Stevens Point track and field
teams at Saturday�s Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor
championships in Whitewater.
Steiner won the heptathlon with 5,187 points
and took the high jump with a leap of six feet, 8.25 inches as the men�s
team placed fourth with 97 points. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 171
points. The Pointer women�s team placed sixth overall with 56 points and
UW-La Crosse won the team title with 205 points.
Nick VerDuin also had a big day for the
Pointers, placing second in the 400-meter dash in 49.64 seconds and
third in the 200-meter dash in 22.21 seconds. Mitch Ellis was second
behind Steiner in the high jump at six feet, 6.25 inches. Adam Baumann
added a runner-up finish in the 55-meter hurdles at 7.65 seconds and
Greg Haak was third in the 800-meter dash in 1:55.28.
The women were led by Danielle Kinderman with
a runner-up finish in the 55-meter dash in 7.46 seconds. Andrea Irvine
was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 59.30 seconds and the 800-meter
relay was fourth in 1:46.31. |
