Men Roll to Eastbay Title, Women Place Second

     UW-Stevens Point had nine different individual champions and two relay winners to capture the men�s team title at Saturday�s 10-team Eastbay track and field invitational in Stevens Point.

     The women�s team had four individual champions and a relay winner in placing second of 15 teams.

     The men�s and women�s1600-meter relay teams posted the only NCAA provisional qualifying times of the day. The men won the event with a time of 3:18.85, while the women were second in 3:59.54. The men, who also won the 800-meter relay in 1:33.62, had 252 points to easily outscore second-place UW-Platteville, which had 141 points. The women�s team totaled 149 points to place behind Minnesota-Duluth�s 181.5 points.

     The Pointers won every running event with Adam Baumann winning the 55-meter dash in 6.59 seconds, Ryan Schroeder claiming the 200-meter dash in 22.73 seconds and Nick VerDuin capturing the 400-meter dash in 49.73 seconds.

     Greg Haak added a win in the 800-meter run in 1:55.25, Dominick Meyer won the mile in 4:17.44, George Carlson took the 3000-meter run in 8:52.27 and Cory Towle was victorious in the 5000-meter run in 15:05.29. In field events, Mitch Ellis won the high jump at six feet, six inches and Kyle Schofield claimed the shot put at 50 feet, 10.75 inches.

     The Pointer women swept the sprint events, getting wins from Dani Kinderman in the 55-meter dash in 7.42 seconds, Laura Simonis in the 200-meter dash in 26.48 seconds, Kathleen Folbrecht in the 400-meter dash in 59.09 seconds. Sara Rammer collected a win in the 5000-meter run at 19:01.38 and the distance medley relay won in 13:16.48.
