Stanley Lead Pointers on First WIAC Day
Beth Richter posted a runner-up finish in the
javelin and a sixth place effort in the long jump to lead the UW-Stevens
Point women�s track and field team on the opening day of the Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outdoor championships in Oshkosh.
Richter tossed the javelin 115 feet, one inch
and long jumped 18 feet, one inch. Teresa Stanley also had a runner-up
finish for the Pointers in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:56.56.
The Pointer women�s team is in sixth place after the first day with 22
points.
The 3200-meter relay provided the top finish
for the men�s team with a third place performance in 7:49.04. Noah
Utecht added a sixth place finish in the javelin at 158 feet as the
Pointers are currently in seventh place with 16 points.
In preliminary events, Nick VerDuin posted the
top time in the men�s 200-meter dash at 21.95 seconds.
The meet continues Saturday with finals in 15
of the meet�s 22 events. |
