LaLonde Named
First-Team Academic All-District; Mitchler Earns Second Team
UW-Stevens Point senior Mark LaLonde has been named a first-team
Academic All-District selection for men�s track and field and cross
country on the squad sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and selected by the
College Sports Information Directors of America.
In addition, Pointers� junior Jenna Mitchler was named to the
women�s second-team All-District team.
LaLonde carries a 3.79 grade point average in Business
Administration and is now eligible for Academic All-American honors. The
All-District team includes all Division II, Division III and NAIA
athletes from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana.
A Park Falls native, LaLonde was the Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference scholar athlete recipient in cross country. He
placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and sixth in the
5,000-meter run at last week�s NCAA Division III outdoor track and field
championships. LaLonde was runner-up in the 5,000-meter run at this
year�s indoor championships and placed sixth overall at the Division III
cross country championships.
Mitchler, a Kaukauna native, was the indoor national champion in
the 800-meter run and placed third in the 1,500-meter run at the outdoor
championships. She placed 23rd at the cross country national
championships to earn All-American honors in all three sports. |
