Out Florida Trip With 9-3 Record
UW-Stevens Point closed out its spring softball
trip to Kissimmee, Fla. with a split on Friday to finish its trip with a
9-3 record. The Pointers had a six-game winning streak snapped in a 3-0
loss to Illinois Wesleyan and then thumped Carleton 8-0 in five innings.
Stephanie Anderson was three-for-three with
three RBI�s to lead the Pointers in the win over Carleton. Hope Krause
pitched a six-hit shutout with three strikeouts in a game that took only
53 minutes.
Allison Dorn gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead with a
two-out, run-scoring single in the second inning and delivered again in
the third inning to cap a five-run outburst. Earlier in the frame, the
Pointers had three straight extra base hits as Anderson had a two-run
triple, Korryn Brooks followed with a triple and Jackie Berger slugged a
double off the wall.
Dorn, Brooks and Danielle Ashbeck were all
two-for-three as UW-Stevens Point totaled 12 hits.
Earlier in the day, the Pointers were limited to
three hits in the loss to Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans scored once in the
first inning and the score held until they added two more runs in the
sixth. UW-Stevens Point had runners on second and third with one out in
the fifth, but failed to score. Anderson pitched a complete game, allowing
nine hits and striking out five. |
