Leads Pointers to Sweep in Florida
Stephanie Anderson and Hope Krause each pitched
complete games as the UW-Stevens Point softball team posted a pair of
victories on Monday in Kissimmee, Fla.
Anderson threw a four-hitter with eight
strikeouts in a 3-2 win over Wellesley (Mass.) and Krause scattered 10
hits in a 4-2 victory over Washington & Jefferson (Pa.). The Pointers are
now 4-2 on their spring trip and 6-2 overall for the season.
Chelsea McIlquham drove home two runs in the
opening game. McIlquham and Mandy Jellish each had run-scoring singles in
a two-run third inning and she added a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
UW-Stevens Point scored all four of its runs in
the opening inning of the second game. Jellish opened the game with a walk
and Laura Van Abel followed with a two-run homer. Anderson and Allison
Dorn each had run-scoring singles later in the inning. |
