PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Players of the Week May 1-7

Baseball Position Player

Jake Frombach (Stratford, WI) The senior shortstop became UW-Stevens Points all-time hits leader while hitting .552 (16-for-29) and scoring 15 runs. Frombach now has 220 hits in his four-year career, passing Ryan Jones on the schools all-time list and moving into a tie for fourth place in WIAC history. The teams leadoff hitter, Frombach sparked the Pointers offense by reaching base 10 times in 15 leadoff at-bats. Frombach was eight-for-eight on stolen bases and also had two doubles and drew four walks for a .618 on-base percentage, leading the Pointers to a 5-2 record for the week.

Baseball - Pitcher

Mike Thrun (Franklin, WI) The sophomore lefthander set a UW-Stevens Point single-game record with 15 strikeouts in a win at Marian on Tuesday. Thrun, whose previous single-game high was four strikeouts and entered the game with 18 career strikeouts, achieved the feat in seven and one-third innings pitched. His total eclipsed the previous record of 14 held by Bill Kuse in 1961 and Jordan Zimmermann in 2006. Thrun recorded at least one strikeout in every inning and earned the victory, scattering four hits, walking three and allowing one earned run.
